During law school he worked with a predecessor to the present Dowell firm in patent searching and prosecution. After that, he began handling trademark and copyright matters and for the past twenty four years has focused his practice in these two areas, with trademarks being predominant. Yates Dowell has extensive experience in trademark selection, clearance searching, registration, and registration maintenance. He has obtained and maintains federal, state and foreign registrations for his clients who come from all over the world and include individuals, corporations, labor unions and law firms. His practice also involves licensing and proceeding before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board as well as analogous proceedings in foreign countries.
